As specialist Provence wedding videographers, we have filmed at some of the most cinematic estates in the South of France. But when Lucy and James chose Château de Tourreau for a three-day wedding weekend, we knew from the very first call that this would be something extraordinary. The venue, the couple, the scale of the celebration — every element aligned perfectly. What follows is our first-hand account of the entire weekend: from bridal preparations inside the château suites to a sun-drenched poolside barbecue on the final day, and everything in between.
If you are planning a destination wedding in Provence and considering Château de Tourreau, this page will give you something most venue guides cannot — the genuine operational experience of a production team that has filmed here multiple times, across all three days of a full weekend wedding.

From a videography standpoint, what makes Château de Tourreau exceptional is the sheer variety of filming locations within a single estate. In one day, we move between the intimate château interiors, the formal gardens and fountain courtyard, the tree-lined driveway, the terraces, the marquee, and the open pool area. No two sequences look the same.
The quality of natural light here is consistent and warm throughout the day — the limestone walls reflect a beautiful soft glow from around 4pm onwards, and late afternoon portraits in the vineyard rows produce some of the best golden-hour footage we have ever captured anywhere in France.
One operational note: the main driveway creates a natural wind tunnel that can affect audio during outdoor ceremonies. Consider a radio microphone on the officiant from the moment they begin the service — not just during the vows.
The Catholic Ceremony — Filming an Outdoor Religious Service at Château de Tourreau
Lucy and James chose a traditional Catholic ceremony held outdoors beside the château’s beautiful 18th-century fountain — one of the most naturally cinematic spots on the estate. As Lucy walked towards James, the grand pale-stone façade of the château framed her perfectly. We had one camera at ground level and a second elevated — no direction, no staging, just genuine breathtaking emotion.
The priest led the service with warmth and sincerity. A discreet lapel mic kept the audio clean despite the open-air setting. As Lucy and James walked back down the aisle, their guests showered them with confetti — captured from ground level and from a sweeping drone shot that revealed the full château grounds below.

What a Three-Day Provence Wedding Actually Looks Like — From Our Perspective
Day one is about atmosphere and anticipation — the first gathering of all guests in one place. We use this evening to test positions and begin building the cinematic language of the film.
Day two is the main event. Because we have been on-site for 24 hours, we know exactly where the sun will be, which corners catch the best light at 4pm, and how the marquee performs under artificial lighting. That preparation is invisible in the final film but entirely responsible for its consistency.
Day three is where multi-day weddings produce footage that single-day events simply cannot. Guests are relaxed, the couple are glowing, and what unfolds is completely unguarded. For Lucy and James, this meant a poolside barbecue with some of our most joyful drone footage to date.
Matthew Oliver Weddings — the planning team behind the weekend — coordinated every detail with exceptional precision, meaning our filming team could anticipate transitions and be in position without disrupting the flow of the day.
Wedding Traditions — Confetti, First Dance & the Wedding Cake
- The confetti exit. Captured simultaneously from ground level within the shower and drone overhead — one of the most visually dynamic sequences in the film.
- The first dance. Two cameras in opposite corners so neither angle was ever blocked. The room fell naturally quiet and Lucy and James shared a moment entirely theirs.
- The cake cutting. Elegant and unhurried, with the Véronique Lorre floral installation visible behind it.
The Evening — How the Party Unfolded and Why It Films So Well
The Aucop Event production rig gave the right level of atmospheric lighting for film without creating harsh shadow patterns. Sound levels were balanced for speech intelligibility during toasts and powerful enough for the dance floor without distorting audio capture. The dance floor was full from the first song and did not empty until the early hours.

Day Three — Poolside Barbecue, Drone Footage & Why the Final Day Is Our Favourite to Film
The third day meant a relaxed poolside barbecue with a DJ, guests swimming and laughing in the afternoon Provence sun. We took the drone up multiple times: guests in the pool, the château rising behind them, the rolling Provençal landscape stretching to the horizon.

Third-day drone footage: the pool at Château de Tourreau with the château and Provence hills in the background — HD Moments
There is something very special about the third day of a destination wedding. The formality is gone, the emotional high has settled into something deeper, and what remains is pure connection — between the couple, their families, and friends who may not see each other again for years. That translates beautifully on film, every single time.
The Bride — Suzanne Neville Gown, Styling & How the Look Filmed
Lucy wore a gown by Suzanne Neville — one of the UK’s most respected bridal designers. The clean lines and exquisite fabric complemented the architectural grandeur of the château without competing with it. Makeup by Charlotte Reid was flawless and natural — entirely in keeping with the luminous quality of a Provence summer.

The Setting — Florals, Catering & the Details That Make Château de Tourreau Film So Well
The florals by Véronique Lorre were soft, romantic, and perfectly in harmony with the natural palette of Provence — dusty rose, ivory, warm white and eucalyptus. The catering by Hélène Traiteur was exceptional — long tables under the Provence sky, filled with food that genuinely reflected the region.
“They captured the spirit of the day so beautifully and it is so special to have the footage to keep forever.”

Planning Advice for Your Château de Tourreau Wedding — From a Videography Team Who Know the Estate
- Book your videographers early. Your film is the only element of your wedding day you will experience again, repeatedly, for the rest of your lives.
- Plan portraits for 4:30–6:00pm. The light on the limestone walls during this window is unparalleled.
- Use the third day intentionally. Commission a specific filmed sequence for the pool day — not just a few handheld shots.
- Outdoor ceremony audio is critical. Brief your officiant and musicians to expect lapel mics.
- Allow travel time from Avignon. The transfer to Sarrians is approximately 35–40 minutes. Recommend guests arrive the evening before.
- Work with a planner who knows Provence. Matthew Oliver Weddings coordinated this weekend with exceptional precision.
