With all the uncertainties the Covid pandemic causes worldwide, couples encounter difficulties planning their special day. If you just got engaged and are uncertain whether to plan your wedding in near future or if Covid changed your plans and you are feeling doubtful whether you should postpone (or maybe even wait for everything to be over – we get your frustration!); we are here to shed light on how you can still have a Covid safe wedding, how you can safely celebrate love with your closest ones.
What matters the most is to immortalize the love and commitment you both have for each other and to share it with those who have been part of your story. Even though the guest list will be small, that doesn’t mean your wedding will be any less exceptional, am I right? So how can you have a safe micro wedding and still have the time of your life? Let’s dive in!
Consider your options for covid safe wedding
Before you start any planning you should consider whether you like a closed space wedding in your home or maybe a small venue or an open space celebration in your backyard. When you have that sorted out, you will have a clearer picture of seating plans, guest list, amount of precautions for a Covid safe wedding. We would recommend an outdoor wedding because of the open air and lower risk of transmission, and on the plus side – more space!
Take time to plan everything
Micro weddings don’t mean that you will have less of a hustle, you will need to think about everything thoroughly. Give yourself time to plan who is going to document your wedding on film, who is going to be in charge of the florals, of the invites, the aesthetic part, the seating of the guests, whether it is going to be a destination wedding, and who will be in charge for that destination wedding video, whether the chosen venue has a Covid-safe plan, if it is an outdoor wedding – the weather conditions; and on top of everything you need to think about the safety precautions.
The positive thing about micro weddings is that even though they require the same amount of planning, they have a faster turnaround. It is important to breathe and give yourself the needed space and time to plan out everything, after all creating a Covid safe wedding requires patience.
Keep your guest list small
Smaller is better! Risk factor related, even if you are allowed to invite 150 guests it is safer to keep your guest list small. Under normal circumstances, you would probably want to invite many more but since we are living in a “new normal” it is crucial to consider your own safety and the safety of your loved ones attending your wedding.
Distancing and seating plans
Now that you’ve got a clear vision of the number of guests, it is time to set the ground rules for distancing. If the table is fit for 10 people, consider accommodating 5 or a maximum of 6 guests. It is best for the guests to be accommodated by the household to avoid unnecessary risk and stress. Keep in mind that the tables should be at least 2m apart. We also recommend using markings for proper distance, they will prove handy for avoiding clusters, especially near the exits and toilets. It is also handy to use name tags for plates and glasses so nobody gets confused about which belongs to whom.
Masks and sanitisers!
We all know the importance of masks and sanitizers so it is important to include them to be plentiful for each guest. There is no need for them to be dull and plain, you can incorporate the theme of your wedding in their design. For example, you can use differently designed face masks for the ladies, different designs for the gentlemen, and even different ones for the staff! Who said that anything should be ordinary, it is your wedding, paint the canvas!
State the rules of your wedding
When sending invites to the guests for your wedding, you can include a list of rules that they should abide by when attending. For example, you can state that anyone who feels unwell should stay at home, masks and sanitizing are mandatory, as well as distance.
Document your wedding day to the fullest!
You know that moment when you look back on videos and photos and you are just overwhelmed by all the emotions?! Now imagine how important your wedding day is and how would it feel to reflect on it. Plus let’s face it, we are living in a historic moment right now, so showing your kids videos from your wedding during a pandemic will be epic!
All the stress, all the fretting that went into the planning process will fade away when the wedding happens. Most of the couples feel ecstatic during their special day and some parts feel like a dream to them, that is why it is essential to hire a wedding videographer so you can relive that day over and over. And not just you! You can share the video with all those that are far or couldn’t attend, that way they will feel like they were there with you.
Yes tomorrow is uncertain and who knows when the pandemic will be over, but one thing is certain – Covid or not, you will enjoy every second of your wedding because, in the end, it is all about you two. What matters the most is crowning your love and moving to the next chapter – facing life together.
