As France wedding videographers, we have filmed some extraordinary celebrations at Château du Grand-Lucé — but Sarah and Matt’s summer wedding was something we will return to again and again. Against the backdrop of this magnificent Loire Valley estate, their celebration radiated pure joy and elegance — from the first morning light catching the château’s historic façade to the last dance under a star-filled sky. This is our first-hand account of a day that felt, from beginning to end, like something from a storybook.

Château du Grand-Lucé — The Setting
Château du Grand-Lucé is an 18th-century neoclassical estate in the Sarthe department of the Loire Valley — manicured formal gardens, a grand ballroom, hand-painted interiors, and a stately limestone façade that sets the tone from the moment guests arrive. As an exclusive-use venue, the entire property was Sarah and Matt’s for the full weekend.

What makes Château du Grand-Lucé so extraordinary to film at is the combination of architectural grandeur and genuine warmth of atmosphere. The quality of light through the tall French windows, the formal gardens at golden hour, the Grand Ballroom under candlelight — every space within the estate produces footage of real depth and beauty, and the natural flow of a wedding day here gives us six or seven completely distinct visual environments across a single day.
The Ceremony — Vows That Filled the Gardens
Sarah and Matt exchanged their vows outdoors — surrounded by the estate’s formal gardens, the neoclassical façade of the château rising behind them, and the particular quality of Loire Valley summer light that makes everything it touches look extraordinary. The ceremony was intimate, sincere, and deeply felt — the kind of outdoor ceremony that produces footage you will return to for the rest of your lives.
The floral arrangements by Atelier Armelle Alleton — a celebrated Loire Valley florist based in Le Mans, perfectly placed for Château du Grand-Lucé — framed the ceremony space with lush, romantic beauty. Their work continued through to the dinner tables, where the classic blue and white palette created a visual consistency and elegance that ran through every frame of the day.

The Bride — Mira Zwillinger Gown
Sarah wore a gown by Mira Zwillinger — one of the world’s most admired bridal designers, known for exquisite floral embroidery, delicate lace, and a romanticism that is both utterly contemporary and timelessly beautiful. The gown was a masterpiece — present and magnificent in the widest shots, with the kind of detail in every close-up that rewards the camera completely.
Hair and makeup by Fanny Wong Beauty was flawless and entirely natural — the kind of work that films beautifully in the golden afternoon light of the Loire Valley.
The Wedding Dinner — Under the Loire Valley Sky
As the afternoon light turned golden across the formal gardens, guests were invited to take their seats for dinner — long tables under the open sky, the château’s neoclassical façade glowing behind them, and the Loire Valley countryside stretching to the horizon. It is one of the most beautiful dinner settings we film in anywhere in France.

The image above — taken from above by photographer Bubble Rock — captures something we love about Château du Grand-Lucé: the sense of scale. The formal gardens, the long tables, the château behind, and the couple at the centre of everything. It is a frame that tells the complete story of the day in a single image.
The catering provided by the château itself was exceptional — a long, unhurried French dinner that reflected the best of the Loire Valley. Linen by Just 4 Linen and furniture and equipment by Maison Options added the final layers of considered elegance. Stationery by MMC Bride Calligraphy completed the visual world of the day with the same refined aesthetic that ran through every element.
The Evening — Dancing Under the Stars
As night fell over the Loire Valley, the celebrations moved into the evening with Fortune Band bringing a level of energy and talent to the dance floor that had every guest moving from the first song to the last. Fortune are one of the finest live wedding bands we have encountered — their musicality, their crowd presence, and their ability to read and build a room are exceptional.
Production by TN14 Events ensured the lighting and sound were perfectly calibrated for both atmosphere and film — warm, intimate, and beautifully consistent through the evening hours. The entire weekend was planned and coordinated with exceptional precision by Matthew Oliver Weddings — whose logistical mastery and genuine warmth made every transition across the celebration feel effortless.

Why We Loved Filming This Wedding
What makes a Château du Grand-Lucé wedding truly special? Perhaps it is the way the golden hour bathes the formal gardens in a dreamlike light. Or how the grand architecture transforms into an intimate haven for celebration. Or perhaps it is simply what happens when two people who love each other deeply choose a setting worthy of that love, and fill it with the right people.
With Sarah and Matt, all of those things came together perfectly. The Mira Zwillinger gown in the Loire Valley light. The vows in the formal gardens. The aerial view of the couple walking towards their guests for dinner. The dance floor alive with Fortune Band until the early hours. These are the sequences that define this film — and that we are genuinely proud of.
“From the first morning light catching the château’s historic façade to the last dance under a star-filled sky — every frame of this wedding tells a story of romance.”
