Planning Tips for Your Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild Wedding — From Our Filming Team

After filming at Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, here is our honest advice for couples planning a wedding at this extraordinary venue:

1. Use the Florentine garden for the ceremony. The musical fountains, the formal garden symmetry, and the sea views beyond make this the most visually complete ceremony setting on the estate. If your guest numbers allow, this is where the most emotionally powerful ceremony footage is captured.
2. Plan portraits for 5:00–7:00pm. The Mediterranean light in late afternoon and early evening at Villa Ephrussi is exceptional — the sun drops lower over the western bay, the shadows lengthen across the gardens, and the villa’s pink walls take on a warm amber glow. This is the window that defines a Riviera wedding film.
3. Allow generous transfer time from Nice. While the venue is only approximately 20 minutes from Nice airport by car, the Corniche roads can be significantly slower during peak summer months. For guest coaches, allow 35–45 minutes from Nice and brief coaches to arrive before the ceremony begins, not at its start time.
4. Confirm the drone policy early. Villa Ephrussi sits within restricted airspace near Nice Côte d’Azur Airport. Drone flights are not automatically permitted — confirm with the venue and obtain the necessary authorisation well in advance if aerial footage is important to you.
5. Plan guest accommodation in advance. There is no on-site accommodation at Villa Ephrussi. Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat has a small number of extremely high-end hotels (including the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat) which book out months in advance for summer dates. Nice city centre offers more options at various price points and is only 20 minutes away.
6. Work with a planner who knows the Riviera. The French Riviera has a different supplier ecosystem to Provence — the caterers, florists, and production companies who work best at Villa Ephrussi are specialists in this very specific environment. A planner with genuine Riviera experience will make an enormous difference to the quality and smoothness of your day.
