A content creator and a wedding videographer can stand in the same room and produce opposite files. One is shipping vertical clips before the first dance. The other is building a cinematic film with wireless audio, two cameras, and a week of edit. Couples mix the titles up because both people hold a camera. The product is not the camera.
What a luxury wedding videographer is for
We are Justina and Greg, a London husband-and-wife crew. The job is a film: vows you can hear, speeches that do not sound like a corridor, a 12–15 minute Signature cut that a grandmother can watch without asking what she missed. Two filmmakers. Lavs under lapels. A recorder on the lectern. Colour and sound in post. Collections from £4,000. That is not a Recap. That is a record.
What a content creator is for
Vertical, same-day, the getting-ready room, the florals, a kiss on the steps. Useful. Not a substitute for radio audio on the father of the bride. If the creator is shooting 9:16 for TikTok during vows, they are in the aisle we have already asked to keep empty. Brief them to the edges of the room, or to the hour after the processional.
The collision
Two bodies in the same doorway, both chasing the ring shot. The content creator needs the clip now. We need the angle we marked the night before. If you hire both, put it in writing: who stands where during vows, who may walk, who is silent. We will not compete for the centre of the aisle. That is how films stay quiet.
Sound is the tell
Ask to hear a full speech, not a montage with music over the gaps. A cinematic trailer can hide a dead lav. A content creator’s phone mic will not survive a dhol, a stone hall, or a cliff in Mallorca. If the quote does not mention radio mics and a backup recorder, you are buying pictures with luck for sound.
How to budget without paying twice
- Videographer: the film. Hours, two cameras, edit length, travel, 20% deposit on a named date.
- Content creator: a separate day-rate for same-day verticals, standing where we are not.
- Do not ask one person to deliver both a 12-minute feature and 30 stories. That is how both fail.
- If the budget only holds one, hire the film. You can shoot a story on a phone. You cannot rebuild vows.
When we say no
We will not add “content” as a garnish on a Short collection. We will not hand a second body to a freelancer you have never met so they can post while we film. If you want both, we stay on the feature and you hire the creator as their own contract. That conversation is free. The date is not held until the deposit is in.
